My goal is simple, yet significant: to meet a man with whom, even years later, our first meeting will still seem like one of the best decisions of my life.
I spend a surprising amount of my life arguing with things that cannot argue back. A stubborn zipper. A song that refuses to match my mood. My own alarm clock. Sometimes even the weather, although so far it has won every case. Maybe becoming a lawyer made this worse. I notice contradictions everywhere. I can defend my opinion very seriously and then, twenty minutes later, admit that I changed my mind because someone gave me a better argument. I actually like that about myself. Being certain all the time sounds terribly boring. But my contradictions don't stay at work. I can want a loud evening with friends and then suddenly decide that I've had enough of humanity for one day. I can be impatient about small things and surprisingly patient about the ones that really matter. I like having a plan, but some of my favorite memories began when the plan completely fell apart. Apparently, consistency is not my strongest talent. I am cheerful by nature, and I think life becomes much easier when you don't treat yourself as the most serious person in the room. I can laugh at myself, change my mind, get ridiculously excited about something new and occasionally make a decision simply because it feels interesting. I don't want to become the kind of woman who already knows exactly what every next year of her life should look like. Perhaps that's also why I'm on this dating site. Not because my life is waiting for someone to begin it. Quite the opposite. I already like my life. I'm simply curious whether somewhere here there is a man who could become an unexpected part of it. Love would be wonderful, of course. But first, I think, comes curiosity. And I've always had plenty of that.
I want a relationship where we never become too proud to repair something. Not every hurt needs a dramatic conversation at midnight. Sometimes it is just a badly chosen sentence, a forgotten promise, a moment when one person needed warmth and the other didn't notice. Small things happen between people all the time. What matters to me is what we do with them. I want a man who doesn't treat an apology like surrender. Someone who can come back after emotions settle and say that he understands why something hurt me. And I want to be able to do exactly the same when I am the one who was wrong. I don't want us to collect old mistakes like evidence for a future trial. If we forgive something, I want it to stay forgiven. If a problem keeps returning, then we should actually solve it instead of having the same argument in slightly different clothes every few months. Maybe that's one of my biggest hopes for love. Not that we will never hurt each other, because two imperfect people probably will sometimes. I simply want us to care more about protecting the relationship than protecting our pride. There may be a man somewhere on this dating site who thinks the same way. A man who understands that saying sorry doesn't make him weak, and hearing sorry doesn't give me the right to punish him forever. I want a relationship where both people know how to come back toward each other after something goes wrong. Because love isn't only about choosing the right person. Sometimes it is also about choosing each other again after a difficult day.
